The Framework for Independent Schools' Transport Services

ISTAS Supplier Advertising Policy

1. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to set out the principles governing supplier advertising on the ISTAS website and associated communications, ensuring transparency, fairness, and the preservation of ISTAS’s independence and integrity.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all suppliers, service providers, and third parties who advertise products or services on any ISTAS-controlled digital platform, publication, or communication channel.

3. Independence and Integrity

ISTAS is an independent accreditation body. Advertising arrangements are entirely separate from accreditation, assessment, and decision-making processes. Under no circumstances shall advertising activity influence, or be perceived to influence, accreditation outcomes, assessment findings, or compliance decisions.

4. Optional Advertising

Supplier advertising with ISTAS is strictly optional. Suppliers are not required to advertise with ISTAS in order to:

  • be referenced or signposted within sector guidance

  • support schools applying for accreditation

  • be considered suitable by accredited organisations

Non-participation in advertising has no adverse impact on any accreditation-related matter.

5. Fees and Commercial Arrangements

Advertising is subject to a standard, published fee that applies equally to all suppliers. Fees relate solely to the provision of advertising space or visibility and do not constitute endorsement, approval, or recommendation.

ISTAS does not accept:

  • commissions

  • referral fees

  • performance-based payments

  • payments linked to supplier selection or usage by schools

All advertising income is used solely to support the administration, development, and governance of the ISTAS accreditation scheme.

6. No Endorsement or Recommendation

Advertising content is clearly identified as such. The presence of an advertisement or supplier listing must not be interpreted as:

  • endorsement by ISTAS

  • confirmation of compliance with ISTAS standards

  • a preferred or recommended supplier status

Schools retain full responsibility for supplier selection and due diligence.

7. Content Standards and Review

ISTAS reserves the right to approve or decline advertising content to ensure it is:

  • accurate and factual

  • not misleading or promotional in a manner inconsistent with regulatory neutrality

  • compliant with applicable laws and sector expectations

ISTAS may remove advertising that breaches this policy or brings the accreditation scheme into disrepute.

8. Review and Governance

This policy is reviewed periodically to ensure ongoing compliance with best practice, regulatory expectations, and the objectives of the ISTAS accreditation scheme.
